“The Higher Certificate in Business is a two year level 6 programme which provides learners with a sophisticated, theoretical and practical knowledge of the core business functions and organisational operating environment.

 

The aims of the Higher Certificate in Business are to equip learners with a range of highly transferable skills that will allow graduates make an immediate and positive contribution to a wide variety of organisational issues including start up operations.

 

The Higher Certificate in Business ensures that graduates are academically proficient and successful learners who are pre-pared for lifelong learning in academic, social and commercial environments.

 

On successful completion of the Higher Certificate in Business graduates will be eligible to apply for a one year top up to a Bachelor of Business in a cognate area”.

Entry Requirements

·         Grade D3 in a minimum of five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination or better in ordinary level papers in English or Second Language and Mathematics, Or:

·         Completed the National Vocational Certificate Level 2, Or:

·         The appropriate and equivalent second level terminal qualifications applicable within the member States of the European Union. In the case of Northern Ireland and Britain:

Ø  Pass in one A-Level subject and three GCSE subjects (including mathematics and English) Or;

Ø  BTEC National certificate or National Diploma (in Business).

·         Admission to the programme on the basis of APEL and in accordance with HETAC Policies

·         Applicants with English as a second language must have IELTS 6 or equivalent.

·         Mature students above the age of 23 years on the 1st January of the year in which they wish to commence their studies

·         Students who have qualified to FETAC level 5 in a related discipline.

English Language requirements

If your first langue is other than English then following are the minimum English requirements for this programme

IELTS: 6.0, or TOFEL (IBT): 78, or TOFEL (CBT): 210, or TOFEL (Paper): 547
