Introduction

Our Overseas Teachers’ Course is designed for primary and secondary school teachers who wish to refresh language and teaching skills. 25 hours per week.

Methodology

The approach taken is essentially task-based with a combination of input, workshop and facilitated sessions. The content and delivery of the course will reflect the training objectives with the intention of encouraging participants to see new approaches and techniques in action and evaluate and incorporate elements into their own teaching.

Course Objectives

To improve participants’ knowledge and use of English.

To encourage a more reflective approach to the learning/teaching process .

To offer a variety of teaching approaches, methods and  techniques.

To encourage the use of ICT as a teaching aid and learning tool inside and outside the  classroom.

To expose participants to Irish life and culture.
To explore new developments in English language teaching.
To become familiar with and evaluate newly published material.

To adapt local authentic material and encourage material development.

To encourage on-going professional development.
