International Junior Programmes

International Junior Summer Camp

Introduction

The Grafton College Junior Summer Camp programme has been especially designed for juniors and it takes place every summer from June to August. The programme offers students the chance to improve their English language skills and meet people from all over the world in a fun and safe environment. All students are accommodated with host families within easy reach of the school, attend classes in the mornings and have an exciting package of activities planned in the afternoons.

We believe that learning English by combining classroom teaching with fun activities where students are encouraged to use their English skills makes for a complete language travel experience. We offer a variety of sports or cultural activities for students to choose from and ensure students benefit in full from the enriching programme. Students will also practice their English during the stay with their Irish family who will provide a safe, nurturing environment where students can relax and feel at home during their stay.

Programme Duration

Our Junior Summer Camp can be booked as a 1 to 4 weeks programme and offers flexible start dates so students can start whenever is convenient.

Classes

Every student has their existing language skills assessed on arrival and our academic staff will carefully place students in a class appropriate to their level of English. Our class sizes are small enough that teachers get to know our students and provide a great opportunity for our students to interact with their teachers. Class sizes are up to 15 students and taught by experienced and fully qualified teachers that give a great deal of individual attention.

Accommodation

Students are accommodated with Irish host families within easy reach of the school which provide full board stay (i.e. breakfast, a packed lunch and evening meal). We believe that a large part of their experience is to come in contact with the local culture, and one of the best ways to do this is to stay in homestay accommodation. We guarantee they'll receive a warm Irish welcome!

Student Care and Welfare

At Grafton College one of our main concerns is that students are safe and well cared for. Our staff is trained to look after children and always put their well-being first, offering support in a friendly manner. In case of need, students can contact us at any time via our 24 hour emergency contact number. As all our staff are local, we can be reached quickly to offer help. We advise all students to take out medical insurance prior to departure.

Medical Insurance

If travelling from within the EU, it is recommended that the student applies for an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) and brings it with them. All students should get private medical insurance prior to their departure, as they are not insured by the school or by the host family against illness, theft or loss of personal belongings.

Timetable

The daily programme follows a schedule of academic study combined with fun activities. Students start with English language lessons in the morning while afternoons are allocated to pursuing exciting activities with their new friends. Students can study General English for 15 or 20 hours per week, depending on the option they have chosen. On excursion days students put into practise their new language skills outside the classroom and get to experience everyday Irish culture.
